LOST AND FOUND

Collie Rescue maintains a lost and found assistance service. If you have lost your collie or found one, you are welcome to contact us at atlcollres@aol.com and we will happy to assist you in whatever way we can. Hopefully, tags or microchip are on your collie to make it easier for someone to return your dog to you.

Your collie is lost-HORRORS. The quicker you act, the better your chances of finding your dog.

  1. Canvas the neighborhood immediately. Let neighbors and neighborhood children know that your collie is lost. Make up flyers ASAP and post in conspicuous areas: entrance to subdivision, near by vet offices, etc. Also contact any vets in the area. If your dog has been injured, most well meaning people will take it to the nearest veterinary clinic.
  2. Atlanta Journal Constitution will generally run free ads for lost and found animals. Check your local papers also.
  3. Contact you county animal control and/or humane society. If you live near other counties, contact all shelters and animals controls in those counties. Go to these facilities and walk them looking for your dog. A phone call will not do. People in these facilities are well meaning, but they do not have the manpower to go look for everyone who calls about their animals. Haunt these facilities. Stay on top of them.

IF YOU FIND A COLLIE

Thank you for caring enough to want to get this collie back to its owner. AJC ads, contacting animal controls will be your start. Place signs locally but do not describe the collie. Just say "Found Collie" and your phone number. Here's why..hard as this to believe unscrupulous people will come and claim animals that are not theirs and then sell them to the labs for some quick money. Have potential owners describe the dog to you, not vice versa. Have them state the tag number, description, markings, age, color, etc. Make them bring proof of ownership: pictures, vet records, etc. We do not want these collies to end up in a lab because of evil people.Thank you for being a Good Samaritan.
